Training
PCI-Media Impact is a leading provider of training programs in the development of social change media. Hundreds of organizations and thousands of individuals have been exposed to our unique approach.
Below are examples of some of our formal training programs:
Peru-American Exchange Program (PAX) – 2007
This training program promoted professional standards in journalism through responsible, accurate, and ethical coverage of democracy and development issues. The exchange fostered mutual understanding, networking opportunities, local capacity building and sustainable partnerships between Peruvian and U.S. radio journalists and media institutions.
My Community–Latin America – 2007 – 2006 - 2005
My Community builds on PCI-Media Impact's relationship with partners and partner organizations throughout Mexico and Central and South America. The initiative helps us develop new relationships in the region and helps PCI-Media Impact create a formal network of mutually supportive grass-roots organizations advocating for greater rights and better health through the use of communications.
Media Leadership Program – 2004 - 2003 – 2002 – 2001 – 2000
PCI-Media Impact joined with the USC Annenberg School of Communications sponsoring international groups of accomplished media professionals for studies in the United States in cinema and television, population issues, and PCI’s entertainment-education methodology.
Radio Tanzania Dar es Salaam Training Workshop - 2003
In February 2003, at the invitation of Radio Tanzania Dar es Salaam, PCI-Media Impact worked with the Africa Youth Alliance (AYA) in organizing and implementing a two-week workshop in Dar es Salaam on the technical aspects of creating a social change radio program.
Andean Highlands Capacity Building Workshop - 2003
The one week workshop laid out the groundwork for a weekly radio program that eventually addressed the region’s low levels of health, encouraging listeners to become more active in preventing disease and improving their own health status
UNFPA Pakistan Media Training Workshop - 2001
PCI-Media Impact trainers conducted three workshops in Pakistan, including a refresher workshop focusing on script design, and in the Indian states of Orissa and Punjab, transcreation/methodology workshops.
UNFPA Namibian Media Training Workshop - 1996
In June 1996, PCI-Media Impact brought the Namibian team to Nairobi for a 17-day training workshop with the creative teams from Kenya and Tanzania. In the early stages of development, we determined that the program's scripts needed extensive revision in order to be consistent with our methodology and the values grid developed in formative research.
